Robert H. Studebaker graduated from Bethel High School in 1928 and earned a B.S. in education from Ohio State University in 1933. He taught at NHS from 1934 to 1939, developing the ‘shop’ programs. He then went into industry, testing steel propellers at Aero Products during WWII, and then inventing and manufacturing the laser plane, a device used in construction to make earth moving and leveling simpler. He holds 12 patents and has received numerous awards and honors for his work in construction. He served on the Wayne Township (Huber Heights) Board of Education for 20 years and has a school named in his honor.
