After graduating, John served as a Marine in Vietnam, earning three Purple Hearts; earned associate degrees from Sinclair in Liberal Arts '72, Printing Technologies '73, and Accounting '74, and a BA from Wright State in Business Law '76; is President of the Graphic Communication Conference of the Teamsters; National Purple Heart Patriot of the Year (2000); AFL-CIO Leader of the Year (2003); Ohio Governor's Hall of Fame honoree (2006); Mayor of Springboro since 1990.
