Title 1 Parent Involvement Policy

Each building within the Northridge Local School District encourages and plans activities to strengthen parent involvement in the education of our students. Each building has an annual meeting with parents to review the Title 1 plan for the students in the building. This meeting includes a review of the annual state assessment data and the results achieved as well as the plan to continue to engage students in high levels of learning by determining if the schoolwide program has been effective in increasing student achievement.

Additionally, each building plans and provides multiple Title 1 family involvement activities in the areas of literacy and math. The goal of these opportunities is to strengthen family literacy. Volunteer opportunities are also available. Each parent or community volunteer completes a background check for safety purposes. Please contact the principal of your child’s building to learn more about the annual family involvement opportunities.

State-Mandated Assessments

Parents and guardians have the right to know information about policies regarding student participation in state-mandated assessments in a school receiving Title I funds. The Federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires that any school district receiving Title 1 funds must notify parents that they may request information and/or policies regarding student participation in state-mandated assessments. As a recipient of Title 1 funds, Northridge Schools will provide you with this information in a timely manner if you request it.

Search for Children with Disabilities

The Northridge Local School District, along with other school districts across the state of Ohio, continue participating in an effort to identify, locate and evaluate all children from birth through 21 years of age who may have disabilities. Disability, in this instance, means such conditions as cognitive disability, hearing impairment, speech or language impairment, visual impairment, emotional disturbance, orthopedic impairment, autism, traumatic brain injury, other health impairment, specific learning disability, deaf-blindness, and multiple disabilities. Public schools have responded vigorously to federal and state mandates requiring the provision of a free appropriate public education regardless of a child’s disability. Many children with disabilities are not visible because they do not function in the mainstream of the community. Also, some identified children with disabilities are preschoolers.

The Northridge Local School District is interested in meeting the needs of children with disabilities. If you have or know of a child who may have a disability or have any questions concerning this notice, please contact:
