Friday One-Hour Delay Schedule Notice

Dear Northridge Family,

It is hard to imagine that we are nearing the end of the first quarter of school … Time continues to fly! I wanted to take just a moment to inform you of a change to our school schedule that has been made necessary by state mandated weekly teacher meetings. Again, I want to reiterate that this change in our student schedule is made necessary by mandated meetings for teachers that must occur weekly here in our district. Beginning on Friday, October 30, 2015, and continuing on EVERY FRIDAY (and FRIDAYS ONLY) for the remainder of the school year, students will report on a ONE-HOUR DELAY. Again, every Friday beginning October 30, 2015, students will report to school one hour later than normal. We will continue to provide bus transportation on these “delay days”, but it will be one hour later than on a normal school day. We will continue to serve breakfast and lunch to our students on these days as well.

NOTE: OUR SCHEDULE ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY WILL NOT CHANGE AND WILL NOT INCLUDE THIS ONE-HOUR DELAY!!

So, Fridays (and Fridays ONLY), beginning October 30, 2015, our student days will be:

Northridge High School: 8:00 – 2:00*

Esther Dennis Middle School: 8:50 – 2:35*

John H. Morrison Elementary: 9:40 – 3:10*

Timberlane Learning Center: Kindergarten: 9:55 – 3:25*

Preschool: 9:55 – 1:15*

*Buses will run on a one-hour delay, and breakfast will be served on these days!

NOTE: OUR SCHEDULE ON MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, and THURSDAY WILL NOT CHANGE AND WILL NOT INCLUDE THIS ONE-HOUR DELAY!!

I want to also apologize in advance for any inconvenience or hardship that this may cause you or your family. Rest assured, that our teachers will use this extra hour each week to positively impact both instruction and student achievement through the use of “Teacher-Based Team” Meetings.

“Teacher-Based Teams“ consist of teams of teachers with structured time to come together to review and revise the impact of teaching practice on student learning. Responsibilities include generating standards-based common formative assessments; creating pre- and post-assessment instruments; collecting, charting, and analyzing student data; and determining and implementing differentiated research-based instructional strategies based on their students' learning needs.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of the Northridge Local Schools. Should you have questions or need further explanation, please do not hesitate to contact me at 937-278-5885 or by email at [email protected].

Enjoying our journey,

Dave Jackson
